Paper-rose Workshops Ltd was founded in April 2016 by artist Kate Freeborough. With over 10 years experience teaching art and even longer as a practising artist, creativity and making has always been a huge part of Kate’s life.
After creating a handmade wedding of her own in 2012, Kate was recruited to help friends in the planning of their handmade wedding. It soon became apparent that there was a demand for craft workshops specifically for people planning a DIY wedding. Through experience, creativity, and a generosity to share, Paper-rose was born.
Based in Manchester, UK, Paper-rose travel the country to teach handmade wedding workshops and support engaged couples, their family and friends to create the unique wedding they have been dreaming of.
Along with years of experience, Kate has also successfully completed a BA(Hons)in Fashion & Textiles, a PGCE in Secondary Education in Art & Design and most recently an MA in Contemporary Fine Art.
“Loved this workshop! Kate was the perfect teacher. The instructions were clear, materials were varied and we worked at a good pace. I’ve never been very good at arts and crafts but I’m really proud of my paper flowers – even my fiancé’s impressed!”
“Really enjoyed our workshop this morning! Very pleased with the lovely flowers we created. Thanks x”
“As someone who is a bit “fingers and thumbs” with these sorts of things I found the pace ideal and the tutor Kate was happy to go over things with me when I needed. As someone who spent a fortune on the flowers for my wedding, I wished I had been introduced to Paper-rose earlier as they look brilliant and would be much cheaper. My creations from the workshop have even found a place on my dining table (which is more than can be said for my wedding flowers).”
“I won’t lie… I was more than a little hungover for my paper flower workshop and loved every bit. I was attending for a friend who fancies doing her decor for her wedding and we had great fun. We even thought it might be a good thing to do with her bridesmaids and mother. Lovely afternoon and great to learn a new skill. I still have the flowers I made on my mantelpiece (with a great sense of pride)”
“I attended the paper rose making workshop as I was interested in learning a new technique that could influence my own paper based art work. I absolutely loved it and Kate encouraged me to really look at the different textures and patterns of the paper and how to use them to compliment each other. I’d really recommend the workshops to anyone interested in creating their own wedding decorations or for those who enjoy getting creative. Thank you Kate!”
“I attended a workshop recently and I thought it was very good value, I thoroughly enjoyed my ‘crafternoon’! I was shown how to make paper flowers – all materials were provided, Kate was very patient and explained the techniques very clearly. I would recommend this workshop for anybody interested in hand-making decorations for their wedding (or interested in paper-crafts)!”
